My Moms

I'm officially posting in honor of Mother's day for the weekend. This is a piece I completed years ago. My grandmother is sitting in the chair. The painting in the background is one I painted of my mother sitting in the same chair. This is my second Mother's day without my Mother around to spoil. I'm really glad I have many paintings, sketches and photographs of her.

Really nice, Donna. And the composition almost makes it look like the painting is a thought bubble coming from her mind, and she's thinking about her daughter like any mother would. Just my take, don't know if you did that purposefully.

This is a very introspective painting Donna, I like the 'ponder' value of it. I too have lost my mother, on Mother's day actually, 4 years ago, so it's always a time for reflection for me.
I do enjoy looking at your work though, keep it up,
Rae

Thanks Rae most of my paintings of my grandmother and mom are ponderous pieces. My favorite is one that my mom and I did together. I was sketching her dancing in her favorite mirror. She noticed and added her own touches to the picture. She even signed it with me. Moms are special.
