Winter Stream

I posted the "in progress" version about four months ago. I was finishing up a few smaller pieces and had extra paint on the palette that I didn't want to waste. This piece was sitting on the easel and only needed the sky finished. This is the result. This was a photo taken by a past assistant in Nebraska.

Fort Bragg Heathers Watercolor

A while ago I posted the pastel version of this painting. As you know, I like to explore an image in many mediums. I will be visiting this garden this week. I hope to do some plein air work while Im there.

Hay II

This is one of the many bales of hay that I see around my hometown during the early summer. I like the way they is there attached to the field they came from.

Domino Face

I'm my family no event is complete without a game of dominoes or a game of cards. Since I don't play the game as well as some, I usually end up standing around the table laughing at the trash talking. This guy is a family friend that was playing a game with my brother and some of his friends. This is my attempt at mimicking Charles Reid's style. Whenever he offers a workshop near me or my state, I plan on attending.

The Observers

Another trading card. When I was a kid many stories were told about these two gentlemen. They were full of vinegar in their younger years and many rumors swirled around about them. In their later years they enjoyed watching the main street from their daily perch which was on the side of the house.

Mountain Top (study)

This is a study for a larger painting and it represents only a small portion of the painting I plan on completing . I played with the colors a bit. The attitude I like is to paint just for me and this painting represents that attitude.

Vista II

This is another artist trading card piece. Years ago I was out in Vista, California. The friend I was visiting had this beautiful back patio that overlooked this valley. This is one of the houses in that valley.

The DNA Map

This is an old abstract painting of mine from the late 80s to early 90s. Back then I worked a lot with abstract images. This is a mixture of watercolor and ink. It has a few interesting passages.

Mountain Light

This is one of the first postings of my artist trading cards. Its fun to see how much info one can fit onto a 2.5 by 3.5 piece of paper. It was inspired by a photo from Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Turnip II

Recently I took a number of photos of a turnip in the sun on a saucer. This painting was done on site prior to me losing the beautiful sunlight. I later cooked the turnips. This has a graphic feel to it.

As soon as I can get these streets wet the name for this painting will be Wet Streets. I need to loosen the edges. A few more visits with this one and done.

On Display II (In progress)

Im working on this image in watercolor and liquid acrylics. I like the person looking out at you as if you are intruding on their privacy.

Join Me For a Drink

We were walking around the Abbots Lagoon part of Point Reyes California and saw this curious one. It seemed to me that it was asking us to join him for a drink.

Jackson Hole II

This is the second in a series of paintings inspired by vacation photos provided by my friend Beverly. She was gracious enough to fill up two disposable cameras for me on her recent visit to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This one is available on my website: www.donnasfolkartgallery.com .

Barton Springs Fog

In the winter of 08 we had lots of mornings with thick fog. I usually had my camera at the ready in the car. This is facing east on Barton Springs Road, Austin TX at South Lamar. Those were beautiful mornings and I was usually a little late for work.

Surfer Wave

I call this one "Surfer Wave". The surfers were having a great time in the water and the fog was very thick. The water was filled with natural drama like this.

These are all work related sketches. Of course they were all done while patiently waiting in various courts to get my cases called.

Forward Movement finished

I cleaned up a few spots and called it done. This cityscape looks lighter than the ones I have been doing lately. I'm going through a phase with acrylic paints so the end result is a little different. Maybe a visit with the oils next.

Sketches

Murder trial in the 147th District Court
Local attorney spending time with the judge.

This is from my watercolor sketchbook that I carry. The top two were done while waiting on lawyers. And the bottom sketch was a study for one of the ballet series.
