The watercolor version of the view of a garden on Town Lake in Austin. It was early spring and we had had a little rain. The flowers were happy.

Sulphur Springs Highway Study

On the way back from Sulphur Springs, Texas I took a ton of photos. I love scenes with freshly baled hay. I hadn't been on that road since I was a teenager. I plan on a large pastel and watercolor of this scene.

Down A Street Fini

On Friday night I had a little time to paint in my hotel room. I decided to give this one a little more sauce to give it a little punch. I think this version is very close to what I was able to do in pastel.

Caught Aware

This little man did not want to be photographed but I caught him briefly unaware. He is one of Justin's sons. When the family gets together, this part of our family socializes too. Its fun to see their relationships develop.

Pastel Down A Street

This is a piece that I worked on Saturday during the West Austin Studio Tour. It is down the street from where one of my sisters used to live. I used a prepared surface with Golden's fine pumice gel medium. The inderpainting was in gouache. I finished it off with my Terry Ludwig Darks.

Hanging

Its interesting to watch the dance between rider and bull. In my opinion, the bull leads while the rider follows. Today is the last day of the West Austin Studio tour hope to see you at Austin Art Space.

Pastel Across The Way

I started this painting last weekend during West. I worked on one of my prepared panels. I drew in my composition in pastel pencil followed by a layer of gouache. I finished with pastel. My subject matter was the pasture across the street from where my sister used to live.
