The Lean Drawing

I am revisiting these images of Northern California in another medium. This series (the first was in pastel)will be watercolor. I loved the greens, sunlight and shadows in the photo. I worked on toned tan paper.

Sunshine Point

This scene was initially painted onsite. We were exploring the bay side of Point Reyes last year and stopped just as the sun was travelling down. I painted a small oil painting and took a few photos with my phone. I loved the light on the buildings the sounds and peace.

Abundant Bales

I isolated a part of the picture for this painting. The fence and the bales were my focus. This scene has generated many paintings because of these bales.

Snowflake Drawing

The study for the painting of my brother's dog that I posted previously. I like the drawing more than the actual painting. Snowflake was trying to get someone to throw one of his chew toys.

Vine Heavy

I'm not going to call this one finished yet I still want to tinker with the slope on the left. I want to add some bushes to the background to identify the area as a hillside. I could go on. I will let it sit for a while before or if I act.

Dueling Trees

This is a pathway that is across from the old Norris School in Commerce. I took this shot in the month of November. I attended Norris just before they desegregated us. My Mom's family had a home in this area. I really should paint the old school before it eventually gets torn down. That place has a lot of our history.

The Distance

This is a scene that I have painted in pastel. Its the "Down the Mountain" series I did a few years back. This is the landscape near Fort Bragg, California. Its a hilly and windy road. I really love the colors and atmosphere.

Trying 1

Yesterday afternoon I sat and sketched while watching a little bit of the Maloof Trial. He is accused of stealing about 1.8 million in Federal stimulus money. His alleged scam was that he was going to build windmills for green energy. The trial is slated to last three weeks. I sat in the back to get some of the audience in the sketch.
Some of the jurors.

More Bubbles

This is a piece that I'm still tooling around with. I spotted this young one at a family gathering. Blowing bubbles with the rest of the kids.

Pleasure Craft 2

I'm working up to a larger painting of this scene and this is just one of the vessels that will be included. I found this new stone paper to play with. I cut the first sheet down into a 6 by 10 watercolor journal. I had the pages bound at Kinko's. The surface is what it is and you really aren't too much in control of what the paint will do.

Vineyard Bales 3

Im still exploring this landscape. I like hay bales and this scene presented many options I liked the photo in its entirety. Instead, I focused more on the multiple compositions within the one picture.

Trees And Bluebonnets

The study for the two larger previously posted bluebonnet paintings. I had a pretty productive day at the gallery. This is the study that I completed before the two larger pieces. I won an award a few years ago and one of the prizes was a small piece of La Carte paper. I finally got to use it. I may buy more.
